Beef Tallow: The base of our whip is rendered down beef fat, also know as tallow. We use grass-fed beef tallow that is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins help nourish the skin. For this reason, tallow has been used throughout history as a natural moisturizer. In the modern world however, not all tallow is created equally. Tallow from grain-fed cows doesn’t have nearly the same amount of vitamins that grass-fed tallow has. This is also why we render our tallow at low temperatures. Rendering at high temperatures will lead to the tallow losing some of it’s nutritional benefits. This will also happen if you “purify” your tallow to remove the odor. Yes, the slight odor will be gone, but so will some of it’s precious nutrients!
Olive Oil: In addition to our tallow, all of our whips contain olive oil. Just like tallow, olive oil has been used throughout history as a natural moisturizer. Also like tallow, not all olive oil is the same. We use high quality olive oil that is cold-pressed and extra-virgin. Adding this to the tallow helps the whip to be more spreadable. This is enhanced by also whipping air into the product resulting in a fluffy consistency.
Scents: Currently, we offer four different scent options; unscented, lavender, cedarwood, and vanilla. Our unscented whip will have a slight scent from the tallow but does not contain any additional scents. Both the lavender and cedarwood whips are scented with therapeutic-grade essential oils (lavender and cedarwood respectively). Our vanilla whip is scented with pure vanilla extract.
